Mr Manoo Soochak
Manoo established the business in partnership with his brother in
1979, after a decade spent trading commodities (including raw cashews
and sesame seeds as well as coffee) in the family business in Tanzania.
His commodity trading experience spans more than 40 years, helping
to provide a solid basis for the company’s expansion. |

Mrs Chandrika Soochak
Chandrika has helped support
the business for several decades, playing a valuable role in HR and
operational activities. She has a particular flair for keeping the
company’s expanding team motivated. She is also an experienced
office administrator, making sure that everything runs like clockwork. |

Mr Rupen Soochak
Rupen has more than 20 years of experience within the global coffee
business. He has been the force behind the company’s global
expansion, building on the company’s historic success in East
Africa. One of his main accomplishments has been to achieve success
in Russia starting from scratch. He has led Equatorial Traders to
be firmly established as a respected global player in the international
coffee market. |

Mrs Sona Mehta
Sona is a lecturer in law at City Law School and has more than 15
years of highprofile legal experience. She started her career working
in a legal practice before building her corporate experience with
Blockbuster Entertainment and then moving into the academic world.
Her role is to provide Equatorial Traders with any immediate legal
advice needed and to ensure that the company complies with its statutory
requirements in a timely manner. |

Mr Jagdish Madhavji
Jagdish keeps tight control over the company’s Finance function.
He applies his extensive accounting experience to monitor the company’s
exposure and cash flow throughout the trading life cycle. Jagdish
makes sure that appropriate management controls are in place at all
times and liaises with the company’s auditors. He also monitors
that suppliers are paid on time to ensure that Equatorial Traders
maintains its impeccable payments record. Jagdish has 14 years of
experience in the coffee business. |

Mr Marek Glowa
Marek has a strong background in economics and business management.
He has accumulated 8 years of experience in the commodities sector,
including 4 years at Equatorial Traders. He is responsible for logistics
which includes taking charge of all warehousing and transportation
activities. He conducts all the necessary administration including
document management. Marek is also an enthusiastic member of the cupping
team and a skilled coffee taster.

Mr Ognjen Krsmanovic
Ognjen graduated in business from Birmingham University and also has
an MBA from the prestigious SDA Bocconi Management School in Milan.
Coffee trading runs in his family (his father was a coffee trader)
and he has 6 years of experience in the coffee business, including
an internship at Bernhard Rothfos in Hamburg and several years in
speciality coffee shops while working for Greenet in Serbia. Ognjen
is responsible for hedging the company’s financial exposure
and producing daily market reports combining technical and fundamental
analysis. He is also involved in business development for new customers
in Eastern European markets. |

Mr Gary Ellis
Before joining Equatorial Traders, Gary worked in Papua New Guinea
within the coffee business of Monpi Exports, part of ECOM Agroindustrial
Corporation. At Equatorial Traders he is setting up certification
programmes for sustainable coffee across the entire supply chain.
He is also leveraging his extensive contacts in Africa and Asia to
develop trading relationships with growers in those key markets. Finally,
Gary assists in tracking shipments and handling samples for quality
control purposes. |

Mr Walter Shaw
Walter worked as a banker with Standard Chartered in Africa for many
years, including stints in Ghana and Nigeria. He has been working
with Equatorial Traders as a consultant for 8 years, sharing his special
expertise in handling the peculiar documentation requirements of the
Russian market. He is also particularly skilled in handling all aspects
of insurance (including ocean insurance, cargo insurance and claims).
